The possibilities are so numerous when it comes to deciding what to visit in Hermanus that it is difficult to make a selection. Depending on the time you have, there are a few places or activities that should not be missed. Let me take you on a 3-day tour to beautiful seaside town  where the wildest elements of nature meet the most sophisticated human elements, wine, food and crafts.

Day 1:

Departing from your hotel at 9h00 we will take the scenic coastal Clarence Road to Betty's bay. Here we will visit the resident offshore penguin colony at Stony Point. The wooden walkway over the colony will provide you with ample photographic opportunities of these comical flightless birds.

At the turn of the century, Sony Point served as one of South Africa’s whaling stations of which the remains a clearly visible and well signposted. Inside the restaurant, which is run by the local community, a photo display depicts live during the turbulent whaling days.

From Stony Point, we will drive to Hermanus, a hidden gem on the Cape Whale Coast. Often described the Rivera of the Whale Coast, this modern, cosmopolitan village has something to offer to each of its visitors.

Stunning ocean views are a dime-a-dozen in South Africa but the frolics of a southern right whale is a different sort of luxury. We will take a whale watching boat ride from the New Harbour for up close and personal encounters with the migrating southern right whale. Whale watching is only from late June until early December.

We will enjoy lunch at an open-air restaurant, Dutchies, on the Blue Flag Grotto Beach.

After lunch, you will be taken to your hotel and have the rest of the afternoon free to explore the assortment of cosmopolitan shops in this seaside town

Day 2:

Early 5h45 pick up at your hotel and then we head off to Kleinbaai a stone’s throw from just outside Gansbaai, great white shark capital of the world!
Please to note that shark cage diving is an activity dependent on the weather.

Alternatively

We will pick you up at you hotel at 10h00 From there we will visit places of interest in Hermanus. Always popular is the Old Harbour with seasonal views of the whales from the cliff paths. For the adventurers, you can go out on a kayak paddle.

At 13h00 we will drive to the Hemel and Aarde Valley for a visit to selected wine estates on the where we will do some wine tasting and lunch in one of the gourmet cuisine restaurants on a wine estate till about 17h00 when we will take you back to your hotel.

Hermanus boasts with a delectable selection of fine restaurants which will become part of your experience when we collect you from your hotel at 19h00.

Day 3 :

We will pick you up from your hotel at10h00, drive inland towards the picturesque towns of Stanford, Napier and Bredasdorp to the town at the southernmost tip of Africa, Cape Agulhas.

The sheer intoxicating beauty of the Overberg is, quite frankly, reason enough to visit, Mountain-like hills fold into each other and the green and golden hues of the wheat fields are spectacular to witness.

We will visit the unique Lighthouse Museum, a building carved from limestone. The design of the building was inspired by the Pharos of Alexandria.

The Cape Agulhas Lighthouse Museum was opened in 1994 and is the only one of its kind that is found in Africa. The museum is a wonderful historical source of not only the lighthouse but also of the historic fish traps.

If you’re feeling fit enough you can make your way up the narrow winding staircase with its 71 steps to the top of the lighthouse, with breathtaking views over a treacherous coast, aptly called, the graveyard of ships!

The Lighthouse Museum is but a stones’ throw from the real meeting place of two oceans, the Indian and the Atlantic oceans, where we will visit the small cairn which marks the spot
Also clearly visible from the top are the old fish traps, made out of stone, that was used hundreds of years ago by the indigenous Khoisan people can be seen from the top of the lighthouse.

After all this activity of climbing to the top, you will be hungry for a bite to eat.
We will enjoy lunch at the Lighthouse Restaurant inside the lighthouse.

On our way back we will stop at Struisbaai harbour where we might be lucky to spot a Stingray who frequently swims in the harbour amongst the fishermen.

After a full, active day we will make our way back to Cape Town to your hotel at around 17h00.
